I am at Westerly Middle School. This is a new school and is separated into pods. I am in a 7th grade pod known as the Pirates. In this pod the team has all of its main classes. Students have a rotating schedule that gives them four 1 hour classes along with 1 hour for Physical Education/Health and a Special. Earth Science is now being taught in this 7th team. All of the 4 classes are on the same topic, however half of the classes move at a slower pace that the other 2 classes. The atmosphere of the team is just that, a "team". All the teachers communicate on curriculum and progress of students.
A stealth objective that I have while I am here is to make students enjoy their science experience. I have noticed more and more that there is so much material to cover and just not enough time, and something always comes up and changes your well thought out plans. My objective to to have the students enjoy science so that they can, afterschool or in the future, look into more aspects of science that we cannot cover in class. Also, I am hoping that students will become interested in the material that we are forced to rush through and look into more deeply on their own.
